Robert Smith, M.D., was the son of the Rev. G. Smith, A.M., rector of Puttenham, and minister of Mar-ket-street chapel, Hertfordshire. He was bred a surgeon, and for some years practised as such in the country. Having been created doctor of medicine (I believe by the university of Aberdeen), and on the 13th May,1817,admitted an Extra-Licentiate of the College of Physicians, he settled as a physician at Maidstone, where he practised with much reputation and success, and died on the 29th June, 1833.
