Richard Carr, MD, was educated at Magdalen college, Cambridge; and proceeded AB 1670; AM 1674. Applying himself to the business of tuition, he was appointed master of the grammar school of Saffron Waldon in 1676, but resigned that office in the early part of 1683, proceeded to Leyden, and on the 1st June in that year was entered on the physic line there. He proceeded MD at Cambridge in 1686. He was created a Fellow of the College of Physicians by the charter of king James II, and was admitted as such 12th April, 1687. Dying in September, 1706, he was buried on the 29th of that month, in the church of St Faith, under St Paul’s cathedral. He was the author of
Epistolæ Medicinales variis occasionibus scriptæ. 12mo. Lond. 1691.
