Peter Canvane, M.D., was born in America, and on the 4th March, 1743, when twenty-two years of age, was entered on the physic line at Leyden. He graduated doctor of medicine at Rheims; and was admitted a Licentiate of the College of Physicians 22nd December,1744. After practising for many years in the island of St. Christopher, he returned to England, and settled as a physician at Bath. Leaving that city, he withdrew to the continent, where he resided for several years before his death, which occurred at Brussels in 1786.
