Percy Dipple was a consultant physician at the Royal Gwent Hospital and St Woolos Hospital, Newport. He was born in London, where his father, Percy Hector Dipple, was a wine and spirit merchant. His mother, Frances Margaret (née Kerslake), was the daughter of a master baker. He was educated at Archbishop Tenison’s Grammar School and then went on to study medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.

After qualifying he completed junior posts at the Royal Gwent Hospital and the Swansea General and Eye Hospital. From 1939 to 1945 he worked as a part time physician for the emergency medical services at Bishop’s Stortford Hospital and was a captain in the home guard. In 1947 he was appointed as a senior medical registrar under Sir John McMichael [Munk’s Roll, Vol.IX, p.341] at the British Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith. At the advent of the NHS, in 1948, he was appointed by the Welsh Hospital Board as a consultant physician in general medicine to the Newport and East Monmouthshire Hospital Group.

He married twice, in 1935, to Elizabeth Margaret (née Thomas) and, in 1967, to Rosemary Margaret (née Robertson). He had two sons and two daughters. At the time of his election to the Fellowship of the College he listed his leisure interests as golf, sailing, philately and photography.
