Arthur William Thomas Eade was a consultant in the department of rheumatology and physical medicine at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital. He was born in Dover, the son of Albert Robert Charles Eade, a baker and confectioner. He was educated at Dover Grammar School and went on to Kings College, London, to study medicine. While he was studying he worked as a part time demonstrator in pharmacology at St Bartholomew's Medical School.

After qualifying he held junior hospital posts at Kings and the Royal Alexandra Hospital for Sick Children in Brighton. He then served as a ward medical officer for the RAMC at Chester and Connaught Military Hospitals from 1955 to 1956. In 1957 he was appointed officer in charge of the medical division of the Connaught Hospital. On leaving the military in 1959 he was appointed as a medical registrar at Basingstoke Hospital and then the Dulwich Hospital. From 1963 he was a senior registrar at Kings. In 1967 he was appointed to the University of Birmingham to undertake work on the rheumatology research wing of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and as a consultant physician in the department of rheumatology and physical medicine at Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital.

He married June-Mary (née Cooke) in 1954 and they had one son and four daughters. At the time of his election to the Fellowship he listed his interests writing, music and the education of the physically handicapped, in which capacity he served as a governor of a college for the disabled.
