Arthur Harold Makins Siddons was a consultant thoracic surgeon at St. George's Hospital in London. He was born in Harrow, Middlesex, and was educated at Harrow School. He went on to Jesus College, Cambridge, to study medicine and completed his clinical training at St. George's. He qualified MB BChir in 1935.

In 1941 he was appointed to a post as temporary surgeon at St. George's. From 1942 he served in the RAF as a surgical specialist.

Following demobilization in 1946 he returned to St George's, and was confirmed in his post as a surgeon. He subsequently worked as a thoracic surgeon at various hospitals in the south east and south west of England.

He was an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons from 1958 to 1964. He wrote on pulmonary surgery and on cardiac pacemakers.

At the time of his election to the Fellowship in 1968 he listed his interests and hobbies as mountains, dinghy sailing and travel. He married Eleanor Mary Oliver and they had one son and one daughter.
