Join artist Andrew Carnie for a discussion of his artwork exploring his interest in boundaries and the body. Included will be his fascinating artwork 'Unfolding Sheets' currently on display as part of our exhibition 'Under the Skin: anatomy, art and identity'. The evening will include an introduction to our collections and exhibition from the museum team and a live Q&A with Andrew about his recent work.

Andrew Carnie is an artist and researcher who has worked with scientists as part of his practice for twenty years. An academic at Winchester School of Art, Southampton University, his work explores how we as humans take on the information and ideas thrown at us from science. His work asks how we make sense of our selves in this changing world of scientific discovery and the imagery of science and how we incorporate science into our sense of self. He is particularly interested in boundaries and what bounds us from the world. These are key themes in projects such Hybrid Bodies which has been running for almost ten years with a heart transplant group based in Toronto Canada and the more recent Illuminating the Self, a project based on Optogenetics and epilepsy centred at Newcastle University.
